Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about the split image tool.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. SpriteSplit runs entirely in your browser. Your image is never uploaded, so it stays private and processing is instant.
Is it really free?
Yes. There are no limits, watermarks or accounts.
How do I split a ChatGPT image with 4 views into separate files?
Paste or drop the image and choose 2×2 (or 1×4 if the views are side by side). The tool finds the gaps, trims each view and names the files yourimage_1.png to yourimage_4.png. Click Download ZIP to save them all.
Can I split an image into unequal parts?
Yes. Drag any red cut line to wherever you need it. Each piece updates as you drag.
How do I make the background transparent?
Turn on Make background transparent under Trim. Raise the tolerance if some background remains, then export as PNG or WebP.
Can I make all pieces the same size?
Yes. Turn on Same size for all to center every piece on an equal canvas, and set a Target size to scale them, for example to 512 px.
Which formats are supported?
You can open PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF (first frame), BMP and AVIF where your browser supports it. You can export as PNG, WebP or JPG.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. It works in any modern mobile browser. On a phone, the ZIP download is the easiest way to save all the pieces.
