SSC CGL 2026 Photo and Signature Size: Rules and How to Resize

What SSC asks for in 2026, why forms get rejected, and how to get the signature right the first time.

Since 2025, SSC changed how photos work: you no longer upload a passport photo file. The application form takes a live photo while you fill it in, and you only upload a scanned signature. Most rejections now come from the signature file, so here is exactly what it needs.

The rules at a glance

  • Photo: captured live by the form. No cap or spectacles, full front view, plain background.
  • Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10–20 KB, about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm.
  • Blurred, tiny or unclear signatures are rejected, and so are photos of an old printed photo.

How to make the signature file on your phone

  1. Sign on plain white paper with a black or dark blue pen. Make it a normal size, not tiny.
  2. Take a photo from straight above in daylight. Avoid shadows from your hand or phone.
  3. Open the SSC signature resizer. Signature is already selected with 6 × 2 cm and 10–20 KB.
  4. Drop the photo, drag the crop box around the signature, and keep Whiten paper, darken ink on.
  5. When the result shows ✓ Within 10–20 KB, tap Download JPG and upload it in the form.

Getting the live photo right

  • Face a window or lamp so your face is evenly lit.
  • Stand in front of a plain light wall.
  • Remove spectacles and caps. Keep your face straight and both ears visible.
  • Hold the phone at eye level, about an arm's length away.

Why SSC signatures get rejected

  • The file is under 10 KB. Tiny files look blurry, so the portal blocks them. The resizer adds safe padding to reach 10 KB without changing the picture.
  • The signature is cropped too loosely, so it looks small on a big white area. Crop close.
  • Grey or yellow paper from a dim photo. The whiten option fixes this.
