UPSC 2026 Photo and Signature Size: Rules Explained
UPSC asks for an uploaded photo, a live photo and a signature written three times. Here is how to get each right.
UPSC's Common Application Form (CAF) has three image steps: an uploaded photograph, a live photo from your camera, and one image with your signature written three times.
The rules
- Photo: JPG, 20–200 KB, each side 350–1000 px, a recent photo with your face filling about three quarters of it.
- Signature: sign three times, one below the other, in black ink on white paper, in one JPG of 20–100 KB.
- Live photo: taken in the form with your webcam or phone.
Making the three-signature image
- Sign three times on white paper, leaving a little space between them.
- Photograph the page in daylight.
- In the UPSC resizer, pick Signature ×3. It becomes 800 × 600 px and 20–100 KB.
Tips
- Some exams, like the Combined Medical Services exam, ask for a very recent photo. Check the date rule in your notice.
- Use the same signature style on every page of the application and on exam day.
